The cautionary tale of “Tech NO man”
This piece speaks of the threat that technology is swallowing up our lives, making us busier and busier. More and more distracted from our inner life. We are becoming part of some sort of collective grid that influences if not controls our attitudes, values and self worth. Our self image is being dictated to us by a constant stream of imagery and information. The near future is likely one where cyborgs take their place amongst the increasing number of human classifications- transgender male, transgender female, bisexual, lesbian, homosexual, asexual, and so on. Where it is all leading to is uncertain. Unimagined levels of power over the masses will be at the disposal of those well accustomed to navigating global affairs.

“Surrenderer’s Knees” – An Insight
Out in that desert where comfort and sustenance have been stripped away, we may finally crumble to our knees. Cry out. Cry out… from our very depths. We can neither advance nor retreat. We are lost in the desert. And somehow we survive. It is here that we do well to reflect on the cyclical nature of life. We must endure periods below the horizon. Patiently experiencing them as we orbit the dark side of the moon. We can loosen our stance when we understand that we are here to contrast our innate light spirit against the darkness born of separation. It is during these times of tremendous heat and stress that we turn to the alchemy of sulphur. We burn. We burn the leaded weight of our human existence in the crucible of life so that we might return to ether. In this fiery process we are refined. Made worthy of the return journey. Our murky essence is transmuted into dazzling clarity and our true colors come shining through as we allow ourselves to become transparent before all that is.

The Story of “Crucible”
This piece transitioned from pencil, to pen and ink and finally to color. As it evolved it revealed healing truths, the little men began to emerge and take on distinct characteristics. I discovered that each represented one of the fundamental elements in the life equation. And that I was to learn to harmonize with each of them even as they harmonized between themselves. The pattern is there, right in front of us, displayed in a thousand ways. We just need to slow down in order to see. We need to concentrate all of our mind on our very center just as a wheel spins around its axis. The entire universe is a gigantic mechanism of interconnecting cog-like movements. So too, it is with us. Know thyself.

The Lesson of the “Tree of Life”
The Tree of Life appears repeatedly in the mythology and religious books of diverse cultures. It speaks universally of layers of existence. In the canopy where air dominates, life abounds as many species occupy the rich crown. The trunk, a conduit that connects the rich earth to the canopy.
A conduit for life-giving water between these two realms. A pillar of strength and stability. We stand our ground and proudly occupy our space. The roots take us deep down to the rich subconscious mind where shadowy mysteries seem to decay and feed us their syrupy nutrients if only we discover how to sip. Patience, slowing down, holding our ground, spreading our arms in exultation. Vast are the lessons, this tree.

Quilts
A fascination with what could be achieved using fabric got the better of me. Thus began my sojourn into this medium. The pockets of raised mounds contrasted with pinched creases creates an attraction that is palpable when witnessed in person.

Victory’s Stance / Splinter – The hero’s journey
There are times (often fleeting) when we feel large, expanded, successful and victorious. A goal has been achieved, a project completed, perhaps a shift in consciousness or a simple summer breeze. Most of us will endure experiences that shatter us. We are broken and splintered. It is here that we embark on the heroic journey to heal ourselves, to make sense of all the confusion. We grapple with the broken, shattered shards of our lives and learn that we must find deeper meaning. We must discover and engage our inner child and a host of other inner characters that make up our whole self. We are driven to dialogue with and assimilate all these shattered elements – our alchemy has begun. We are compelled to succeed – we must. Triumph awaits us as we gradually understand that we choose these difficulties so that we can experience ourselves as single beams of the one great Light. We enjoy our lives. We endure our lives.
